This song is a lot of fun, in the studio Dave loosened his kick all of the way and it sounded like hitting wet paper, but somehow it worked in the mix! Ps, for the olders out there listen for the SNL reference.
Fun Fact #7
Speaking of Minneapolis, (why do I feel like I am continuing a discussion that I am only having with myself.) It was a great place to be a band in the late 80’s with the Minneapolis Sound bands like Morris Day and the Time, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, (Produced Janet Jackson's biggest album) and Jellybean Johnson. I played basket ball every week with a lot of those guys and with some Minnesota Vikings. (Qadry Ismail was the fastest human being I ever played a game with). In fact, I once got to D up on a player from the Minnesota Timberwolves; it was THE BEST basketball game of my life! I will continue on the Minneapolis scene on the next fun fact, but I gotta get back to this one. A musician friend of mine was in a very popular band and wanted to get married to this model. She told him musicians’ marriages never work so he wanted her to meet me to prove it could be done. At the time, I must have been his only musician friend who had accomplished the unimaginable 8 years of faithfulness, (now 30+ years). Anyway, this song was loosely based on her, and you get 3 guesses what Cheese and Candy are referring to.
Lyrics
lyrics
I got something to say, this is what i know. I call her on the telephone; she says she can’t go out. She’s always got the reason; she says she’s tired out. I know about her habits, she lives like Mr. Bill. She never seems to show up to where she says she will. I could tell her a thing or two, but that’s just not my style, I wouldn’t want to be rude. I’ve never asked her about where she goes at night. I’m not sure that she’d tell me, but I’m afraid she might.
She lives on Cheese and Candy, she says she don’t need more. She lives on Cheese and Candy. She’s knocking at your door.
You know I knew her ever since she was a little child. Now she’s playing grown-up and shes acting so darn wild.
